Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL), the flagship incubator of the Adani Group, has announced a long-term partnership with French climate-tech company Dioxycle to develop and commercialise low-carbon chemical manufacturing technologies in India.
The collaboration marks Adani Group's strategic entry into next-generation chemical production by combining renewable energy with carbon utilisation technologies. The first phase of the partnership will involve establishing a pilot plant at an Adani Group facility, where captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity will be used to manufacture formic acid.
The pilot project is intended to validate the technology under industrial operating conditions. Upon successful demonstration, both companies plan to expand the process for large-scale commercial production.
Dioxycle brings proprietary electrically powered chemical manufacturing technology designed to convert captured CO₂ into valuable industrial chemicals. Adani Group will contribute its renewable energy capabilities, industrial infrastructure, and large-scale project execution expertise to accelerate deployment.
The partnership reflects the growing global focus on carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), where carbon dioxide is treated as a feedstock rather than a waste emission. If successfully scaled, the initiative could help reduce the carbon footprint of chemical manufacturing while supporting the transition toward cleaner industrial production.
The agreement also aligns with India's broader push toward decarbonising energy-intensive industries and building a more sustainable manufacturing ecosystem through innovation and clean-energy integration.
