The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has advised all State Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERAs) to provide a four-month extension for eligible real estate projects affected by supply chain disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

According to the advisory issued on July 31, the recommendation applies to registered projects whose original, revised, or previously extended completion deadlines fall on or after February 28, 2026. The proposed extension is intended to help developers manage delays caused by factors beyond their control without attracting regulatory penalties.

MoHUA noted that the geopolitical situation in West Asia has disrupted international supply chains, impacting the availability of key construction materials and slowing project execution across the sector.

To simplify implementation, the Ministry has suggested that State RERAs issue a common order granting the extension, eliminating the need for developers to submit separate applications for each affected project.

Industry bodies Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India and National Real Estate Development Council have welcomed the recommendation, stating that the additional time will help developers manage material supply challenges, maintain construction quality, and ensure smoother project completion despite ongoing global uncertainties.
