The Delhi government has proposed three major road infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion across key corridors in the national capital by 2030.
The plan includes the construction of two elevated corridors of around five kilometres each, along with a 1.8-kilometre cable-stayed bridge that will create smoother, signal-free connectivity on some of Delhi's busiest routes.
One elevated corridor is planned between Britannia Chowk and the Outer Ring Road through Shakur Basti Railway Station, while the second will connect Ankur Enclave to Gokulpuri Metro Station by passing over the Karawal Nagar drain.
The Karawal Nagar corridor is expected to provide significant relief to commuters from Dayalpur, Sonia Vihar, and surrounding neighbourhoods, where narrow roads, encroachments, and heavy peak-hour traffic have long caused delays.
The third project features a cable-stayed bridge linking Azadpur with Delhi University's North Campus as part of an upgraded elevated Ring Road corridor, further strengthening connectivity in North Delhi.
If approved and executed as planned, these projects are expected to improve travel efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and support Delhi's long-term urban mobility goals.
