Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is set for a major infrastructure upgrade, with Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd (TIAL) inviting bids for a ₹2,700 crore expansion project led by Adani Airport Holdings.

The project's centrepiece is a new integrated Terminal 2, which will grow from 45,000 sq m to 165,000 sq m by 2030. Alongside the terminal, the development includes new aircraft aprons, taxiways, cargo and utility facilities, improved road access, expanded parking, commercial spaces, and a hotel.

Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2027 and is expected to be completed by July 2030, with phased execution planned to minimise disruption to ongoing airport operations. Contractors will be required to follow strict safety protocols, including dedicated work zones, FOD management, and close coordination with airport authorities throughout the construction period.
