The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project continues to make steady progress, with 209 km of track bed completed and 190 km of overhead electrification (OHE) masts installed, according to details shared by the government in Parliament.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, stated that 452 km of piers and 356 km of girders have been completed along the 508 km high-speed rail corridor.
The corridor will connect 12 stations across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, including Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati.
Construction is also advancing on the 21 km undersea tunnel, with 4.8 km of tunnelling between Ghansoli and Shilphata in Maharashtra already completed.
On the 97 km Surat–Vapi section, all major civil works, including river bridges, have been finished, while 86% of the track bed has already been laid, marking another significant step towards the project's completion.
