Pune Metro Line 3 is entering the final stage before passenger operations, with the first 12-station section between Maan and Balewadi preparing for a possible September opening.

The approximately 8-km stretch has received safety approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), clearing a key regulatory milestone for the corridor. The clearance was granted on 23 July, and project officials are now undertaking final inspections and checks ahead of commissioning.

The Maharashtra government is working on the inauguration schedule, with a virtual launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi being considered during the first half of September. However, an official inauguration date has not yet been announced.

PMRDA Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari is also scheduled to carry out another detailed inspection on 28 August to assess the remaining works and operational readiness.

The 23.3-km Pune Metro Line 3 is being developed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Once fully operational, the corridor will establish a direct metro connection between Hinjewadi, Balewadi and Shivajinagar, improving public transport connectivity to one of Pune's major IT and employment hubs.
